Information in English about FAST-CCTA trial

Randomized evaluation of coronary computed tomographic angiography (CCTA) in intermediate-risk patients presenting to the emergency department with chest pain - FAST-CCTA

Patients with chest pain or other symptoms consistent with acute coronary syndrome constitute about a relative large proportion of all patients at the emergency department (ED).

About 45 % of all chest pain patients will be considered as having at least intermediate risk but not be diagnosed with myocardial infarction. In this group early assessment is still challenging, and the process needs to be improved.

The diagnostic accuracy of coronary computed tomographic angiography (CCTA) has been extensively validated and there has been a continuous improvement regarding image quality and radiation exposure.

The aim for this study is to determine whether a diagnostic strategy including early CCTA in intermediate-risk patients presenting to the ED with chest pain reduces further risk.
